Adv. Gerrie Nel offers Crush Corruption training in Bellville

Adv. Gerrie Nel, Head of the civil rights organisation AfriForum’s Private Prosecution Unit, addressed the community of the greater Cape Town and surroundings towns on corruption and private prosecution on 7 June 2018 on invitation from the organisation’s Cape Town North branch. The training was attended by nearly 200 people.

The visit formed part of AfriForum’s Crush Corruption campaign, which includes corruption training on what corruption encompasses and how it can be curbed with the public’s help. The audience also had the opportunity to ask Adv. Nel questions.

Adv. Nel encouraged the audience to stand together and fight corruption by not to participating in corrupt activities, reporting corruption and joining local community structures like AfriForum. He concluded with the well-known Albert Einstein quote: “The world will not be destroyed by those who do evil, but by those watch them without doing anything.”

“The evening was a major success and we are thankful for Adv. Nel sharing his expertise with the public to empower us to fight corruption on government level as well as in the private sector,” says Deon de Jager, AfriForum’s District Coordinator for the Western Cape.
