AfriForum achieves big success in Vaal Triangle

AfriForum’s Vanderbijlpark branch on 3 May 2019 received confirmation that the Emfuleni Local Municipality again made available trucks for waste removal.

This follows after the Vanderbijlpark branch on 25 April 2019 directed a letter to this Municipality and placed them on terms due to the poor waste removal in the Emfuleni area. According to this letter, waste removal last took place months ago.

“This is a big success for the local AfriForum branches seeing as the Municipality didn’t deliver any services in the Emfuleni area for a long time. This is an important victory for AfriForum and a step in the right direction,” says Dewet Ungerer, AfriForum’s Assistant Coordinator for the Vaal Triangle.

Altogether 25 trucks were made available to resume the normal waste removal schedule in the coming week. According to the Municipality, a delay occurred at the logistics division and it will be rectified soon.

According to Ungerer, community members were extremely grateful and relieved that the municipal waste removal service was resumed at last.
