AfriForum concludes agreement with Ngwathe Local Municipality for advice with water and sanitation services

AfriForum and the Ngwathe Local Municipality have entered into an agreement according to which AfriForum will assist the municipality with advice to help solve the pressing problems with water and sanitation.

According to Alta Pretorius, AfriForum’s District Coordinator for Mooi River, this is an important step forward to ensure that the community receives sustainable services. “AfriForum welcomes the conclusion of the agreement to provide advice on water and sanitation as it gives us the opportunity to bring the best expertise to the table to help the municipality overcome its problems with the sustainable delivery of water and sanitation services.”

Johan Kruger, AfriForum’s Head of Community Development, explains that municipalities must unlock the expertise and good faith in communities with these types of agreements. “The municipality’s step towards accepting our offer of assistance is commendable. We have already had in depth meetings with the municipality and visited the waterworks. Our team of experts is now working on recommendations and a versatile framework for short-, medium- and long-term interventions.”

“This is the third agreement of its kind that AfriForum concludes with municipalities. We have concluded similar agreements with the Modimolle – Mookgopong Local Municipality, where we are already providing advice and assistance,” concludes Kruger.

The community is encouraged to get involved with this AfriForum branch in order to make a real difference: SMS “Parys” to 45344 (R1).
