AfriForum’s Kempton Park neighbourhood watch and SAPS seizes alcohol and drugs

During the national mass patrol on 20 July 2018 in conjunction with Target Security and the South African Police Service (SAPS), AfriForum’s Kempton Park neighbourhood watch proto team arrested a suspect in Pomona for the illegal sale of alcohol and drug possession.

This follows after the proto team and the SAPS followed up on information received from the public.

The proto team went to the suspect’s premises, which is used as an overnight truck stop. The suspect was found on the scene, where he sold alcohol to clients without the required permit. The manager of the premises was contacted after which the illegal shebeen was closed down, the SAPS issued a J353, and the suspect was arrested.

Upon further investigation of the premises one of the proto team members also found dagga along with cash. The dagga and cash was seized by the SAPS and was taken to the police station along with several cases of alcohol. The drugs were weighed at the local Arwyp Hospital and came to a weight of 142,5 gram.

“Thanks to the smooth cooperation between various role players this again proves the continued safety successes in Kempton Park. We trust that forces will continually be joined to secure our community,” says Jan Vermaak, Chairperson of AfriForum’s Kempton Park branch.
