AfriForum’s Meyerspark neighbourhood watch apprehends burglar

A member of AfriForum’s Meyerspark neighbourhood watch noticed two suspects who jumped over a wall in Willow Park Manor on the morning of 24 January 2019. He followed the suspects and drove them from the area.

About half an hour thereafter a burglary in Meyerspark was reported over the radio. Patrol vehicles were despatched and one of the suspects was apprehended with stolen goods in his possession. The South African Police Service (SAPS) was on the scene shortly thereafter and the suspect was arrested. One of the stolen items was a personal computer containing confidential information.

“The neighbourhood watch’s quick reaction and cooperation with the SAPS was excellent,” says André Badenhorst, Chairperson of AfriForum’s Meyerspark branch.

“This is an excellent example of a well-organised neighbourhood watch that reacted quickly and helped to ensure a successful outcome,” says Lambert de Klerk, AfriForum’s District Coordinator for Greater Pretoria South.

Community members are invited to become involved with AfriForum: SMS “Meyerspark” to 45341 (R1) or send an email to lambert.deklerk@afriforum.co.za.
