AfriForum’s Roodepoort neighbourhood watch assists in bringing suspect to book

Fanie Naude, Chairperson of AfriForum’s Roodepoort branch, on 13 September at 20:30 received a call regarding a suspected land trespasser, after which he summoned a neighbourhood watch member to investigate.

Shortly thereafter the neighbourhood watch member confirmed that there was indeed a trespasser on the premises and requested the neighbourhood watch to send backup. Four AfriForum patrollers, as well as Apcan and Dunmar Security joined the neighbourhood watch member. After the premises was ransacked, the team succeeded in arresting the suspect and handed him over to the SAPS.

“This is a very good example of a well organised community which together with local security companies and the SAPS are working hard to combat crime,” says Dewet Ungerer, AfriForum’s District Coordinator for the West Rand and the Vaal Triangle.
