AfriForum’s Roodepoort neighbourhood watch helps to curb crime

AfriForum’s Roodepoort neighbourhood watch spent the last two weeks in helping to curb crime in the community.

Two members of this neighbourhood watch was very busy protecting the community and supporting it in times of need. Dk Khourie and Angelo Leibrant helped to catch suspected cable thieves, who were in possession of coper to the value of R100 000. The suspects were arrested and handed over to the SAPS. These neighbourhood watch members also helped to return a vehicle and find a missing woman. They were also involved with various proactive crime prevention actions.

“AfriForum’s neighbourhood watch members sacrifice their personal time and resources to help protect the community and support it in times of need. Without the dedication of these people and structures, communities will crumble under the pressure that criminals subject neighbourhoods to,” says Dewet Ungerer, AfriForum’s District Coordinator for the West Rand.

AfriForum’s Roodepoort neighbourhood watch will continue to fight crime in cooperation with the SAPS and other community safety structures. Ungerer encourages members of the public to join safety structures and organisations: SMS “Roodepoort” to 45341 (R1) to join your local AfriForum neighbourhood watch.
