AfriForum’s Roodepoort neighbourhood watch holds first mass patrol for 2019

On Friday 25 January AfriForum’s Roodepoort neighbourhood watch held its first monthly crime prevention and mass patrol for 2019. The Fairland SAPS; the Community Policing Forum (CPF) of Honeydew, Sophiatown and Florida; National Security & Fire; and SCP Security also took part in this patrol.

The group of 54 members met in Fairland and patrolled Fairland, Sophiatown, Florida, Roodepoort and Honeydew. No incidents were reported during this patrol and all the members are eager to make these patrols a monthly institution.

“The success of crime prevention patrols depends a great deal on the community’s involvement – the more people who take part, the bigger the impact. It is a privilege to confirm that this was indeed the case here in Roodepoort,” says Dewet Ungerer, AfriForum’s Assistant Coordinator for the West Rand.
