AfriForum’s Vryburg branch not satisfied with Naledi’s answers

The civil rights organisation AfriForum’s Vryburg branch late on Friday afternoon (27 January 2017) received written answers from Neo Skalk, Mayor of the Naledi Municipality, on questions that they had asked the Municipality. These questions had been given to the Mayor at a community meeting.

“The Management of AfriForum’s Vryburg branch is not satisfied with the answers, however.  Although the questions were very clear, the answers are very vague. We are currently busy compiling a memorandum in reaction to the Municipality’s answers,” says Alta Pretorius-Swart, AfriForum’s Regional Coordinator for Stellaland.

According to Pretorius-Swart, it is evident that neither the Mayor nor the Council have answers to those problems. Neither is there enough money to pay Eskom in a sustainable manner.

“AfriForum undertakes to put continuous pressure on the Municipality. We also encourage the community to remain involved,” says Pretorius-Swart.
