AfriForum’s Westonaria branch takes action against municipality regarding water problems

AfriForum’s Westonaria branch received various complaints from members regarding a water shortage in Venterspos. This problem is simply being ignored by the West Rand District Municipality. This necessitated the local branch to submit a formal written complaint at the municipality on 11 July 2017.

AfriForum learned that the water was cut due to the municipality not paying its water account.

“This is already the second time this year that the water in Venterspos had been cut for more than seven days. It is unacceptable and stays a continuous problem that is simply not being regarded as a priority by the Municipality. Access to water is a constitutional right and AfriForum will do everything in its power to support the residents of Venterspos to ensure water supply to the town,” says Esther Swart, AfriForum’s Local Government Committee Member for the Westonaria branch.

Give AfriForum’s Westonaria branch the mandate to take action against the West Rand District Municipality: SMS “Westonaria” to 45342 (R1).
