AfriForum’s #YourTown campaign: AfriForum erects new traffic signs

On 1 October AfriForum’s Naboomspruit branch started to erect new traffic signs at crossings in the town in cooperation with the Traffic Department. The project forms part of the civil rights organisation’s #YourTown campaign, which is aimed at addressing problems in towns ourselves.

The Naboomspruit branch purchased 10 traffic signs, which will eventually be erected across the town at crossings that have no signs.

Phillip van Staden, Chairperson of AfriForum’s Naboomspruit branch, views the project as a priority because the missing signs pose a risk to residents’ safety. “We would like to ensure that our town becomes a safe place for all residents. Missing traffic signs can cause major accidents and our branch therefore took the initiative to replace these ourselves.”
