Neighbourhood watch member injured during robbery in Pretoria West – AfriForum provides support

An AfriForum neighbourhood watch member from Pretoria West was injured Tuesday evening, 21 August 2018. The neighbourhood watch member was informed that a robbery had been taking place at the local supermarket. When he arrived, the robbers fled from the shop and started shooting at the vehicles in the parking area, during which the member was hit.

AfriForum and Best Care Ambulance Services arranged for the member to be airlifted to the Milpark Hospital. He is currently in a critical condition after his kidney and part of his liver had to be removed.

“AfriForum 911 Trauma Victim Support Unit is supporting the member’s family and has already arranged that the member’s vehicle be cleaned,” says Ian Cameron, Head of AfriForum’s Community Safety division.

“AfriForum wants to thank the following institutions for their help and support: Hallo Aviation Air Ambulance Services, Milpark Hospital, Xander Laubscher of Best Care Ambulance Services and AfriForum’s neighbourhood watch members,” says Hillel Coetzer, AfriForum’s Safety Coordinator for the northern region.
