Pretoria West neighbourhood watch holds bush patrol

AfriForum’s Pretoria West neighbourhood watch on Saturday 3 March 2018 held a bush patrol in the Danville and Elandspoort area.

“We patrolled a part of the mountain in Danville, where criminals go hide after they were active in the neighbourhood. We found various places where these criminals sort stolen goods,” says Tiaan Oosthuizen, AfriForum’s District Coordinator for Gauteng North.

“We patrolled a veld in Elandspoort, where various illegal squatters live. We thoroughly canvassed the area and found no stolen goods. Thereafter we went to the veld next to Phillip Nel Park, which has been plagued by cable thieves in recent times,” says Francois Oberholzer, AfriForum’s Chairperson for the Pretoria West branch.

“No serious incidents of crime were reported during the bush patrol and we succeeded in our goal to increase visibility in this area,” Oberholzer says further.

“We will regularly hold patrols such as this. AfriForum hopes that it would cause criminal activities in the area to decrease,” Oosthuizen concludes.
