Teamwork helps to detain pepper spray troublemakers on Kovsie campus

AfriForum Youth’s Kovsie branch in cooperation with other members of the civil rights organisation, today detained two male students who sprayed pepper spray in a classroom at the University of the Free State (UV). The class had to be evacuated due to the incident.

“According to eyewitnesses, the one man was wearing an ANC t-shirt,” says Michelle Peens, chairperson of AfriForum’s Kovsie branch. AfriForum Youth went ahead to lay a charge at the police against the two men.

“Through good communication and platforms such as AfriForum Youth, students can report incidents such as these and it can be addressed effectively. We further want to make it clear that students who commit and or incite violence on campus, will be strongly acted against,” says Peens.
