AfriForum’s West Moot neighbourhood watch apprehends suspect with help of community

AfriForum’s West Moot neighbourhood watch with the help of the public on Tuesday 14 November apprehended a suspected robber. This after he jumped over several fences and was finally taken into custody in Irvine Avenue in Mountain View and handed over to the South African Police Service (SAPS).

“The public’s mindfulness and rapid action led to the suspect being apprehended quickly,” says Johan Liebenberg, Chairperson of AfriForum’s neighbourhood watch branch in West Moot.

“Public cooperation and information is of grave importance to reach continued success against criminals and to make our environment safe again,” adds Liebenberg.

“It is very important for the community to always be aware of what is going on in their area,” says Lambert de Klerk, AfriForum’s District Coordinator for Gauteng North.

AfriForum encourages the various communities of the Tshwane Metro to become involved with the local branches and to actively take part in the activities of these neighbourhood watches. For information about this, send an email to lambert@afriforum.co.za.
