AfriForum neighbourhood watches on West Rand and in Vaal Triangle participate in national patrol

The AfriForum neighbourhood watches in Roodepoort, Vanderbijlpark and Randfontein participated in the civil rights organisation’s national patrol on Friday, 20 July 2018.

146 patrollers from these AfriForum neighbourhood watches travelled almost 4 070 km in 92 vehicles and handled three incidents successfully in cooperation with the SAPS. Twelve other safety institutions also joined AfriForum in the patrol, among other community policing forums, security firms, the SAPS and other private neighbourhood watches.

“AfriForum holds these national patrols to improve visibility and cooperation, and ensure the safety of our communities,” says Dewet Ungerer, AfriForum’s District Coordinator for the West Rand and the Vaal Triangle.

“AfriForum appeals to communities to become involved and prioritise their safety themselves. We cannot rely on the state alone to look after our safety. Join any local safety institution in your area or join AfriForum today and become part of the solution,” concludes Ungerer.
