Springs community holds visibility patrol

The AfriForum neighbourhood watches in Brakpan, Kempton Park and Springs on 11 January 2019 held a visibility patrol in Bakerton, Springs in cooperation with Bakerton’s community policing forum (CPF). A total of 710 km were covered in 94 man-hours, while seven vehicles were used.

“Since the festive season, Bakerton has been experiencing a serious crime wave and as a community we simply cannot accept it. It is important to hold these patrols in order to increase visibility and improve cooperation with other safety institutions. In this way we are helping to actively improve the safety of our communities,” says Cornel Swart, Chairperson of AfriForum’s Springs branch.

“AfriForum is making a plea to communities to become involved and prioritise their safety themselves. Communities can help to combat crime in their surroundings by becoming involved at local safety structures,” concludes Swart.
