AfriForum helps with evacuation of Buffelsbaai

The AfriForum neighbourhood watch in George on 7 June 2017 provided assistance with the evacuation of houses in Buffelsbaai as a result of fires that are currently raging in the area.

The civil rights organisation’s George branch received a message that people urgently needed assistance to be evacuated along the seashore. AfriForum, along with a 4×4 club in George, safely evacuated a number of people to the Buffelsbaai Café. From there they were transported to the Sedgefield Community Hall.

“A number of people were helped, among which the elderly. Pets were also taken to a place of safety,” says Thomas van Dalen, AfriForum’s Provincial Coordinator for the Western Cape.

AfriForum is also currently aiding the community of Knysna and surrounding areas affected by the fires.
