AfriForum’s Roodepoort branch actively involved in safeguarding community

The AfriForum neighbourhood watch in Roodepoort participated in various safety actions and raids during the month of July.

The neighbourhood watch on 19 July 2019 assisted the SAPS and ICE Community Policing during an area demarcation operation in Florida, Hamberg and Maraisburg.

“The branch and neighbourhood watch are proud to be working with the SAPS and the various policing forums to safeguard the community. The best weapon to combat crime is solidarity and support among different safety entities,” says Dewet Ungerer, AfriForum’s Assistant Coordinator for the West Rand.

This AfriForum branch’s monthly mass and crime prevention patrol was held on 26 July 2019 in cooperation with the following role-players: ER24, Honeydew CPF, Sophiatown CPF, Albertsville CPF, Fairlands CPF, FNQB CPF, BCI Security, APCAN Security, National Security, Tau Security, SRT Security, EC Security, Scpsl Security, CCJ Security, Delta Tactical, Emergency Control SA and ICE Community Policing.

Altogether 113 members participated in this mass patrol and the coming months’ patrols promise to be even bigger.

Ungerer adds that crime prevention patrols such as these can only be successful if the entire community do their part. “It is a privilege to be able to say that it is indeed the case in Roodepoort.”

Various problem areas in the community were patrolled during the patrol and no serious incidents were reported.
