AfriForum Youth’s Matzikama branch donates pet food and paints local SPCA

AfriForum Youth’s Matzikama branch supported the local SPCA on Monday 23 November by donating dog and cat food, as well as painting the SPCA’s building.

Members of the Agricultural Association also volunteered and helped with the painting of the building. The SPCA currently takes care of about 12 dogs and 18 cats and some of these animals are available for adoption.

“Supporting the SPCA is one of several projects we are involved with. The SPCA faced a lot of hardship during the lockdown, which is why we decided to help them. Local farmers also know that this SPCA is always willing to assist in sterilising their animals, at a very good price,” says Eric van Zyl, chairperson of the Matzikama branch.

Vredendal Build’it donated paint and paint brushes to the youth branch, whilst the Vredendal Spar made cat food and dog food available at a discounted price to be bought for the animals.

The AfriForum Youth branch in Matzikama completed this project successfully in cooperation with the Matzikama Agricultural Association, Vredendal Build-it and Vredendal Spar.
