AfriForum’s Bellville neighbourhood watch safeguards primary schools

Yollanda Fritz, member of AfriForum’s Bellville neighbourhood watch, monitored the safety situation at the Bellpark Primary School and the Bellville Primary School during the past couple of weeks.

According to Tommy van Zyl, Chairperson of AfriForum’s Cape Town North branch, parents were concerned about the safety of their children at these two schools. Fritz started patrolling the area surrounding these schools in the morning and in the afternoon to subsequently ensure the safety of learners. No incidents have since been reported.

“Maintaining visibility is a proactive aversion method to combat crime. The community has a responsibility to support the SAPS in this manner with regard to the combating of crime,” says Fritz.
