AFRIFORUM’S WHITE RIVER NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH EXPLORES AREA WITH A DRONE

On 20 February AfriForum’s White River neighbourhood watch explored the vlei areas in White River with a drone.

The purpose of this project is to explore the area and to make a note of the possible footpaths and hiding places so members with foot patrols can search these areas.

Housebreakers regularly use these routes to quickly disappear after a burglary and also hide the stolen goods in the vlei areas. Members can therefore use the information to be more successful in the fight against criminals.

During the exploration not only were various hiding places found but even temporary houses where criminals can possibly live and plan their crimes.

“This technology makes it possible for us to gather information without sending our members into dangerous areas,” says Johan Joe Pelser, leader of the White River neighbourhood watch.
