Germiston branch cleans Buxton Park

AfriForum’s Germiston branch cleaned Buxton Park in Dinwiddie on 11 March with the community’s help. The park was littered with rubbish, empty alcohol bottles and even drug paraphernalia and had become a place for homeless people to sleep. With the community’s help, the branch picked up the rubbish, cut about two hectares of grass and pruned many trees.

“This project aims to create a safe place for children to play. The park used to be a place where the community could relax unfortunately, in the past few years, it has deteriorated greatly due to poor maintenance,” says Jurie Ferreira, District Coordinator for the East Rand.

The branch would like to thank the members of the community and the New Apostolic Church, who brought their equipment to help clean the park.

“As soon as a community stands together, one can immediately notice the difference. The town not only looks more beautiful, but it also makes one feel better. We hope this will encourage all the residents to join the branch and get involved in similar projects,” concludes Ferreira.

The Germiston branch encourages the community to get involved and help their community: SMS “Germiston” to 45340 (R1) to join and become part of the solution.
