Kempton Park branch donates to Elim Clinic

AfriForum’s Kempton Park branch donated 70 sets of bed linen to the Elim Clinic on 11 August. Elim Clinic is a professional rehabilitation centre that offers inpatient treatment to men and women aged 18 and over who suffer from drug addiction and/or behavioural disorders. The Kempton Park branch has already been involved with the clinic since 2020.

Drug addiction is a complex social and health issue that requires the active involvement of the government, social organisations, and society. There is no simple solution. However, community awareness, education, and access to treatment are essential to reduce its impact on the lives of individuals, families and communities.

“Elim is a reputable and experienced organisation in the community when it comes to combating drug addiction, and it is a privilege for the branch to help the clinic during these challenging times. It is important that people feel comfortable while they receive treatment in the centre; therefore, we decided to donate bed linen,” says Veruska Brits, Chairperson of AfriForum’s Kempton Park branch.

“Although the clinic does extremely important work, they do not receive any government funding, so it is important for our branch to support them. Elim treats vulnerable individuals; therefore, I am glad we can help. We are building on the good collaboration between our organisations by supporting each other,” says Jurie Ferreira, AfriForum’s District Coordinator for the East Rand.
