Springs neighbourhood watch protects participants during annual road race

AfriForum’s Springs neighbourhood watch showed that they can also be successful pointsmen during a road race. On 20 January at 05:30 the neighbourhood watch stood at the ready to promote safety and conduct traffic during the annual Springs Striders road race.

“It is a privilege for this branch to take part in this annual race, to make sports and leisure opportunities for the community safer in this way,” says Jurie Ferreira, AfriForum’s district coordinator for the East Rand.

Ferreira emphasised that such initiatives and community involvement can contribute to building community pride. Community involvement and pride are the building blocks of a community that can ultimately stand together to tackle challenges.
