AfriForum demands clarity about Matlosana Local Municipality’s rebate policy

The Matlosana Local Municipality has still not implemented their rebate policy although it has already been approved together with the municipality’s 2023/-24 budget. The municipality has promised a 10% rebate to residents who settle their bills on time and in full. The AfriForum branch in Klerksdorp now wants to know when this promised rebate will be implemented.

Among other things, this branch wants to know the following:

  • When will the rebate policy be implemented?
  • How will this rebate affect residents’ accounts?
  • Is there clear evidence that this policy is in line with the budget already approved?

AfriForum also calls for transparency in this process. Residents have the right to know how decisions will affect their pockets and AfriForum is waiting for a speedy answer from the municipality.

“Because transparency and accountability form the cornerstones of good government, we trust that the municipality will respond quickly and implement the policy and thus strengthen the trust between the municipality and the residents,” says Alta Pretorius, AfriForum’s District Coordinator for the Mooi River.

Residents who want to become part of this AfriForum branch can call Theo Gresse on 083 232 3405.
