AfriForum takes strong stance against destructive Expropriation Bill in oral presentation

The civil rights organisation AfriForum today delivered an oral presentation strongly opposing the Expropriation Bill [B 23 – 2020] before the Gauteng Legislature’s Portfolio Committee on Infrastructure Development and Property Management in Pretoria.

“Expropriation without compensation is state-sanctioned theft, deeply immoral and a human rights violation. It is an inhumane policy motivated by a combination of corrupt greed and resentment. The ANC is gearing up to violate the rights of millions and cause an economic disaster, all in pursuit of a cynical electioneering ploy,” says Ernst van Zyl, Campaign Officer for Strategy and Content at AfriForum.

“Due to decades of failure by the government and rampant corruption, South Africa is currently experiencing electricity, unemployment, crime, and an open borders crisis. This Expropriation Bill will only add fuel to that fire, guaranteed,” Van Zyl concludes.

AfriForum has opposed this extremist bill at every opportunity and format over multiple years. AfriForum will again participate in an event in June for another opportunity for oral presentations regarding the bill:

Date:               5 June 2023

Time:               10:00

Venue:             Mogale City Centenary Hall, Krugersdorp
