AfriForum’s Benoni branch works together to better the environment

The AfriForum branch in Benoni on 28 and 29 January 2022 rolled up their sleeves to better the image of the town’s environment. The branch finalised five projects and amongst others filled potholes in Uys Road, cut the grass and tidied up various green strips, cleaned the Lanyon bridge and removed illegal boards.

Approximately 60 bags of tar was used to fill the potholes in Uys Road. The grass of the green strips next to the roads that was a sore eye for motorists and which made it easy for criminals to hide, was cut. These projects show that the community acts proactively to not only better the town, but also to lower criminal elements.

“These projects were launched by the community members. AfriForum is proud to work with such remarkable members who build towards the future of their community,” says Dewet Ungerer, AfriForum’s District Coordinator for the East Rand.

Ungerer wants to encourage the community to become involved with AfriForum’s Benoni branch to be part of the difference. Send an email to benoni@afriforumtak.co.za to become involved.
