#AfriForumStandsTogether for Schools: AfriForum donates support packages to schools in Eastern Cape

The AfriForum branches in the Eastern Cape donated 10 support packages to schools in this province as part of the #AfriForumStandsTogether for Schools project that was launched in cooperation with AfriForum Youth. These school support packages contain COVID-19 information brochures, patterns for facial masks, electronic thermometers, hand sanitiser and hand sanitiser stands. The value of each package is R6 500.

Packages were donated in Port Elizabeth to Lorraine Primary School, Charlo Primary School, Nanaga Primary School, Moregrove Primary School, Merryvale School, Quest School and Westview School. In East London, Hudson Park Primary School and Nahoon Primary School received such a package, while HTS Daniel Pienaar in Uitenhage also received one.

“It is truly a privilege to be able to reach out to schools in such a time of crisis and contribute to making sure they are prepared to continue the 2020 academic year. Schools did not budget for these additional expenses and they all scramble to ensure the safety of their learners. AfriForum is inundated with requests for support from schools, because they do not receive adequate support from the Department of Education,” says Arno Greyling, AfriForum’s District Coordinator for the Southern Cape.

AfriForum has already distributed more than 40 000 bottles of hand sanitiser, 8 000 posters and 200 thermometers to schools across the country.

AfriForum’s branches in the Eastern Cape encourage communities to join this initiative: SMS your name to 32078 (R1) and be part of the solution.
