Cooperation between neighbourhood watch, cable theft unit and private security prevent cable theft in Pretoria West

Members of AfriForum’s Pretoria West neighbourhood watch, the Tshwane Metro’s cable theft unit and a private security company thwarted two incidents of cable theft during the early hours of 17 March in Church and Maunde Streets respectively.

“The excellent cooperation between AfriForum, the Metro’s cable theft unit and the private security company led to us being able to frighten away the cable thieves before any cables were stolen or damaged,” says Francois Oberholzer, Chairperson of AfriForum’s Pretoria West branch.

“We would like to thank each neighbourhood watch member for his unselfish contribution and time being sacrificed to make this community safer,” says Tiaan Oosthuizen, AfriForum’s District Coordinator for Gauteng North.
