Germiston neighbourhood watch nabs two suspects within 24 hours

AfriForum’s Germiston neighbourhood watch on Friday 3 February helped the police in Primrose on the East Rand to arrest two suspects. On that day, the police issued a warrant for the arrest of these suspects.

The Primrose police approached the neighbourhood watch for help in connection with the arrest of two suspects who were involved in, among other things, the malicious damage to property. The information was immediately forwarded to all Germiston neighbourhood watch members and the first suspect was tracked down and arrested the same day. The other suspect was identified the following day (Saturday 4 February) by a patroller. The patroller requested assistance and the neighbourhood watch members quickly devised a plan to arrest this suspect as well. The neighbourhood watch members’ good cooperation led to the arrest of both suspected criminals within 24 hours.

“I am very proud of what AfriForum’s Germiston neighbourhood watch achieves in the community. This type of success is proof of how a community can effectively promote its own safety with good cooperation,” says Jurie Ferreira, District Coordinator for the East Rand.

The Germiston branch calls on the community to get involved to help their community. SMS “Germiston” to 45340 (R1) to join and become part of the solution.
