Health professional

Dear (future) allied health professional,

Have you completed your studies, but have not been placed for your community service year? Have you not yet received confirmation of your placement, employment contract, place of employment, or start date? Well, you are not alone.

AfriForum has taken notice of several cases in which graduates whose professions are regulated by the Allied Health Professions Council of South Africa (AHPCSA), have received little to no information regarding their placement and employment for their community service year – despite the official start date being 1 January 2024.

The negligence of the Department of Health does not only place additional strain on already understaffed healthcare facilities, but also severely prejudices those who must complete their community service year before being allowed to practice their chosen profession.

If you have experienced any of these issues with your placement and employment by the Department of Health, please take a stand with AfriForum to place the Department on terms. We aim to ensure that willing allied health professionals are placed and employed for their community service year.

AfriForum will stand with you and direct a letter of demand to the Department of Health to finalise the placement and employment process for all allied health professionals’ community service year.

Kindly provide your information in the space provided below and help us to get you placed:
