Farm attacks
SOUTH AFRICAN FARMERS ARE THREATENED BY FARM ATTACKS ON A DAILY BASIS.
Although the latest figures, like every year, are shocking, the government still refuses to treat farm attacks and murders as priority crimes. However, AfriForum is creating hope by establishing safety structures to improve the safety of people on farms. This civil rights organisation’s latest statistics also show that farm attacks are increasing but farm murders are decreasing, which indicates that farming communities are becoming more prepared. AfriForum has also launched comprehensive awareness, safety, prevention and support campaigns at local, national and international levels.
AfriForum is dedicated to continuously expanding our 177 neighbourhood and farm watch structures nationwide and equipping and training these structures to protect themselves and fight back against farm attacks. The organisation is also focused on raising awareness of farm murders nationally and internationally by running campaigns that expose the reality of farm attacks.
