#YourTown campaign: AfriForum’s Roodepoort branch donates trees

The AfriForum branch in Roodepoort on 9 October 2020 donated 15 trees to the Hamerkop Bird Sanctuary. AfriForum made the donation seeing as a large number of trees in this sanctuary were destroyed in 2019 during a destructive fire. The Hamerkop Bird Sanctuary houses 162 different bird species.

“The trees were purchased at inheemsebome.co.za and transported to the bird sanctuary. It will not only serve as new homes for all the birds, but also offer a beautiful view to the nearby community,” says Dewet Ungerer, AfriForum’s District Coordinator for the West Rand.

AfriForum intends on planting more and more trees in communities every year. When a tree is planted it not only provides oxygen and shade, but it also creates hope for the future.

Visit www.onsdorp.co.za and give AfriForum the mandate to make a positive difference in your community. Become involved and be part of the difference.
